It doesn’t require a bunch of money to be successful, but you do need to follow some simple truths.
I’ve started many a business brick & mortar and internet, and a few simple truths are all you need to make it. Here is the formula for your success.
Set a specific goal for your achievement
An untold number of people in traditional and internet business have glossed over this practice, to their peril. Some would read this step and think “Oh that’s easy. I want to be successful. Next!!†There in lies the problem. Setting specific meaningful targeted goals is not an easy task.
You can set all the pie-in-the-sky goals you want and it simply doesn’t do the necessary job. What is the job of your goal? One of the jobs of a Specific, Meaningful, well Targeted Goal is to make you think. To arrive at your proper goal you will need to answer the following questions. What am I doing? Why am I doing it? What is required of me? When will I have this done?
The answers to these and perhaps other probative questions will lead you to create your goal. This goal then becomes the target for you aim for. As well as, a modivational tool that will help you to take action every day. Especially when thing get tough as they most likely will before you succeed.
So it is vital that you spend some time getting the right goal for you and the work you are doing. Write it out, read it over, make changes, get specific. You’ll know when you have crafted the ‘right’ goal when you can read it out loud (alone) and it makes you tingle. It may take several tries. Heck, lots of tries. When you find the goal that make you tingle you’ve hit the jackpot, because it will be calling your name everyday for attention. Its’ call will be so strong you’ll climb mountains to reach it.

Make a plan to reach your goal
If you wrote your goal, then writhing your plan will be all the easier. Make a list of the resources that you have at your disposal. Time, money, equipment (computer), web sites, email accounts, and knowledge. Make a list, then go back and read your goal. Now ask yourself: “How can I apply my resources to reach my goal.â€
I find it best to start with time. How much time do you have to work toward your goal? When is this time available? Make a schedule just like you would for any other important activity in your life.
Now, what specific project are you going to work on? You have to pick a project that you can complete in a rapid fashion. It’s a matter of creating momentum. And keeping your self focused.
What resources will you need for this project? Do you have these as part of your resource set? If not, what is the cost of getting the required resource. If you’ll have to sign-up for some account that will cost you tons of money or time that you don’t have then find another project. You have to move toward your goal. Selecting a project that assorbes your resources, (especially time and money) but doesn’t move you forward is useless. How will this project help me reach my goal?
For most people time is short and so is money, so being productive with both is very important. Keep this in mind when you select the project you want to complete first. In the beginning you may need to do really simple projects. The first one may not be the most profitable in terms of money. But money is not always the most important thing. More likely than not, you will need to develop your skills as you go. So picking a project that will teach you some simple but necessary skills may be your best start. Once you have finished the first project you can add your newly developed skills to your resources.
Now, like your goal, write it out. Be completely specific include dates, days of the week, times of day. Include the specific project you will be accomplishing. Then set a date and time for completion
It is vital that you feel that you are making progress. Review your goals each day, even the days that you aren’t able to work. This will keep you motivated toward the days when you can. Keep your minds eye focused on your goal
Each work day review your goals again, and get to work on your plan where you left off. Stay focused on the project task at hand. Wasting your time now on another ‘great new system’ will set you completely back. Work your project with the time you have.
When the first project is done start another one. Re-check your goal, review your resources and select another project. Be sure to make time in your new plan to review and maintain the results of your first plan.
Associate with Successful people in your field.
Starting any business these days is tough. There are so many things that you need to know. Things that are absolutely necessary for success and thing you need to avoid at all costs. One of the biggest industries around these days is business consulting. People get paid thousands of dollars to tell people what to do. Some may be worth it, and others are not.

The Ari was born as Isaac Luria Ashkenazi, in 16th century Jerusalem. He lived at the dawn of the technological era, when the Middle Ages were being rapidly replaced by the Renaissance, and the first sprouts of a new civilization began to emerge. But humanity was not undergoing just technological and cultural development. People also began to develop spiritually, to yearn for spiritual elevation and to discover the source of life. Precisely this new desire that emerged in humanity allowed the Ari to reshape the Kabbalistic method, in order to adapt it to the new spiritual desires of the masses.
Beginning with a very young age, he became interested in sacred texts and devoted all his time to studying Kabbalistic texts, such as the Holy Scriptures. Very quickly, he absorbed all the Kabbalistic knowledge that was attained before him and became a renowned spiritual teacher at the young age of 35.
The Ari headed a Kabbalistic school in a small town in Northern Israel called Tzefat. There, he expounded his spiritual attainment and the wisdom of Kabbalah, but he did not simply teach the things others before him had attained. He presented the Kabbalistic wisdom in a completely new way, and later generations would study the spiritual world using primarily his books.
But as fate would have it, he taught for just a year and a half before passing away at the age of 36. Of all his students, he felt that only one student had understood him enough to continue studying his spiritual teaching. This student was 28 year old Chaim Vital, and in the year and a half he had studied with the Ari, he wrote down everything he heard. When the Ari passed away, Chaim Vital was the only disciple allowed to continue and publicize the Ari's work.
All the existing texts of the Ari's Kabbalistic teaching are the notes Chaim Vital took during that year and a half. They comprise about 20 volumes, of which the most important text is The Tree of Life. This text examines the origin of all life and the essence of Creation or man. Most importantly, it talks about the general force of Nature that governs everything and brings everything into existence. The Ari called this force "Upper Light." Here is an excerpt from the book The Tree of Life:
Behold that before the emanations were emanated and the creatures were created,
The Upper Simple Light had filled the whole existence.
And there was no vacancy, such as an empty atmosphere, a hollow, or a pit,
But all was filled with Simple, Boundless Light.
And there was no such part as head, or tail,
But everything was Simple, Smooth Light, balanced evenly and equally,
And it was called the Endless Light.
The Ari's great achievement was that he renovated the entire Kabbalistic method that existed before him for thousands of years - the method of attaining the Upper Light. Before him, the method was intended only for special people whose souls already possessed unique spiritual qualities. After the Ari, the method could be used by the masses, by anyone who truly desires spiritual ascent, regardless of age, gender or nationality. Thanks to the Ari, anyone can now engage in the wisdom of Kabbalah, find out about the purpose of Creation, and attain a sensation of the Upper Light.
Moreover, the Ari paved the way for Kabbalah to become a modern science. He was the first Kabbalist to expound the wisdom about the spiritual world in a modern, scientific language. Before him, Kabbalists had stated the same knowledge in a mysterious, concealed language of legends, fantastical stories and the like. Their texts could be properly interpreted only by other Kabbalists, and remained hidden to the uninformed reader.
Thus, the Ari laid the foundations for modern Kabbalah, creating a method that responded to people's new spiritual desires in his generation. The Kabbalistic method used in the world today by millions of people is also based on the Ari's work, and his book The Tree of Life remains a fundamental textbook used by modern students of Kabbalah.

I wished that these "gurus" would really tell me the "real" secrets to their success. It seemed to me that this was just never going to happen. Although there were some useful tips and techniques published on occassion, I was convinced that the "big guys" were keeping the best methods to themselves. There are some very common drawbacks with most of the traffic generation tips offered by the most successful money-making tycoons on the internet!
Let's take the example of targeted traffic acquired through pay-per-click programs. In this kind of program, it is true that you get quality web traffic your way, but the disadvantage is that you are paying a very high price for that traffic - at times as much as $5 per click! In addition, there is absolutely no guarantee that this method would give you a certain minimum percentage of "conversion." I mean, what if your competitors started clicking on those "pay-per-click" ads?
SEO is often advised, but beware, the actual effort you need to put into search engine optimisation can be very high. You need to be able to research and analyze your keywords and make those keywords work for you on every page of your site. The effort required can be quite tough for most individuals.

Using forums to build quality list is becoming more popular. At one time, not long ago this was one of the most overlooked aspects of list building.
Lots of times people who don't know any better jump into forum discussions pushing a product or their website. This is a No-No.
The key to using the forums is to establish yourself as an expert in your field. Don't go in trying to sell something or promote your website. These people don't know you there for not trusting you.
Use forums to build and establosh trust. Get to know these people, become friends, and help them with as many problems you can, building trust along the way.
Now that we know what a forum is and how to use it we will move on.
To find forums do a search on your favorite search engine entering your keyword or topic followed by forum. This will bring up many forums to choose from.
It's time to get into a little grunt work now. We need to become members to 25-50 of these forums.
Now we need to go to the profile section and create a signature. This is very important, our signature is going to have our name and a link to our website,(prefferably a squeeze page) and thats it. Nothing more.
Next we need to introduce ourselves in the introductory section of the forum. Heres where we say hi and tell a little about what we do offline.
Mention a hobby you may have, or something about your job. Be friendly and get to know these folks. Don't try to sell or promote at this point.
The next day you are going to return and reply to the welcomes you recieved from your introduction posts. Be polite and reply with a thank-you, that goes a long ways believe it.
Ok, now it is time to start looking through the posts for unanswered questions that you are able to answer. If you know the answer, give it to them.
Don't answer a reply like; If you buy my e-book you will find all your answers. You don't want to do this. Your main objective here is to become an expert, and don't try sell at this time.
You'll want to continue answering questions on a daily basis. Spend as much time as you can answering these questions. The more quality posts you present, the more there will be an exponental effect that will build.
You are now being seen by many as an expert. And answering them questions makes you just that, an expert. You still want to refrain from putting on a sales pitch. Remember your link is in your signature, if they want to know more they will click your link.
You must be seen as an expert. If not you will never get the click, they won't subscribe, and they won't buy anything.
If you can continue to give these people quality content and information on a daily basis, builds trust and respect.
Give your readers something that they can walk away with everyday and feel good about it.
Once seen as an expert the more comfortable your readers feel with you. The more posts they read of yours the more apt they are clicking your link. They are very curious at this point.
Remember, don't be aggressive in forums. Don't mention your website or products. The more posts you make the more clicks you will get.

I don't think so... granted there are some lousy products and some awful information marketed to you, but there are some excellent products as well that are giving you valid information about a particular phase of internet marketing. What is being packaged to you is profitable from these later producers, but it is only a "piece of the pie", and you are not being given the whole truth.
Look for Boot Camps that proffer a step-by-step process for starting a successful business online. Check Google for those programs, carefully check them out, purchase the one that satisfies your need and apply the steps as outlined.
No product to sell or promote?
I don't think so... there is no lack of products and services available online that people can affiliate with and promote. Again Google for affiliate programs if you don't have a source for an affiliate program that fits your interests or desires. Most programs show you how to market their products and tell you what you need to do to start the money flowing right away. "Plug and play." Sign up as an affiliate and begin promoting the product(s) you do choose.
Lack of know how?
I don't think so... the problem is there is too much information. There is no lack of ebooks, programs, blogs, Squidoo lenses available, all able to teach you anything you wish to know about any subject you want to persue.
Settle on a program you have already purchased and stop looking for, and I might add buying, every new product advertised to you. There are many phases of internet information marketing, but you need to choose one path - one method - and become an expert in that endeavor.
I suggest you begin with blogging or Squidoo lenses as fairly easy ways to profit on line.
It's the internet - stupid!
Again, I don't think so... the internet is here to stay. It is growing at phenomenal rates and will continue growing for years to come.
Rules and regulations for how people are to operate their business online have been undergoing changes in some countries and could change further, but the internet will continue to grow, and you can grow with it.
So, what's the #1 reason?
The # 1 reason that people do not succeed online is that they do not get started building their first website. Now, what is a Safelist?
Safelists came into existence when Email "spam" became a big issue. Simply stated, Safelists are in fact nothing more than a group of individuals, who agree to receive and send email messages to each other. The fact that they agree to receive email make these lists "safe", hence the name Safelist... A Safelist can be used to advertise web sites, E-books, business opportunities, affiliate programs and so forth.
Safelists promote the hype that each member will get hundreds of targeted leads and earn thousands by submitting to their safelist. They continue the hype by promoting to the unwary that their ads will be seen and their sites visited. Certain types of sites like this can only marginally come close to making any sort of guarantee of visitors. Most of these types of safelists operate a credit based system that awards viewers credits when they visit other member sites. Once they reach a certain credit threshold they, in turn, can send out their own message.
The other version of this site does not offer credits, but only says that you won’t be accused of spamming by other members in the safelist. In both cases, the member must have a valid e-mail account to stay a member.
The two main problems arising from this type of system come from the sheer volume of e-mails coming to the member’s e-mail box. Many e-mail box services will simply start filtering them out, thus eliminating any possibility of them being viewed. The second comes from the fact that no one has time to read each email that comes into their box. Many e-mails will simply be mass deleted. Even credit based safelists have suffered from these problems.
How many people actually take the time to read your e-mails and view your site with any real intention of buying? It is important to remember that members of these safelists are trying to sell you their product. They are not interested in buying from you, and likewise you are trying to sell your product and are not interested in what they are offering. So, you have sellers selling to sellers for the most part and it just won't work. Even credit based systems cannot guarantee sales. So, with all of this in mind, is it safe to assume you won’t make any money from them? If you do make any money here it is from newbie marketers who have been told to use safelists and Traffic exchanges(I will give my take on TE'S another time)and it won’t be as much as other proven methods of promotions.
In reality, the only "responsive safelist" an Internet Marketer can have is the one he or she generates thru legitimate means. For example starting a newsletter or through the use of lead generating squeeze pages.

It's true that most people are busy, but extra time for some sort of home-based extra income producing project can almost always be found. It may mean giving up or changing a few of your favorite pastimes such as having a couple of beers with the guys or watching TV but if you score big with your extra income project, you will have all the time you want for doing whatever you what to do.
Efficient time management boils down to planning what you're going to do, and then doing it without backtracking. Start by making a list of the things you want to do tomorrow, each evening before you go to bed. Schedule your trips to the store or wherever to coincide with the other things you have to do, and with your trips to or from work. Organize your trips to take care of as many things as possible while you're out of the house. Take stock of the time you spend on the telephone and eliminate all that isn't necessary.
Whatever chores you have to do at home, set aside a specific time to do them, and a specific amount of time to devote to them. For instances, just one hour a day devoted to yard work would probably make your property the envy of all your neighbors. Don't try to do a week's work in one big flurry. Whether it's painting your house, fixing leaky faucets, or mowing your lawn and trimming your shrubs, do a part of it, or one particular job each day, and you'll be amazed at your progress.
